Mr. Jlniiiincll is to deliver an address on the No-License question at Rahotu on Thursday. The O.K. Washing Machine is a favorite -labor-savor with the housewife. With the aid of one of these machines the troubles of washing-day are lessened by more than one-half. The last of the Railway Social Club's entertainments for the season will |,e held at the Brougham-street Hall on Friday evening next. A "lung night" dance will be held, eonmieneiii" at "S o'clock.
The sale of work to bo held at St. •Mary's Hall on 11th and 1 -iili instant gives every indication of being a successful all'air. We understand that i, beautiful lot uraTiicles will be on sale. A programme of amusements, including competitions for ladies and gents, has been arranged.
The Waitara Freezing .Works will be open to receive stock on and after 10th November. Intending shippers are icquested to apply for space without delay.
Owners of motor-cars are requested to reserve them for Monday, King's Birthday, in the interests of the Recreation (irounds Board. A picnic in aid of the Board's funds is being held on the new sports ground, and it is desired to arrange a motor-ear procession from the town to the grounds. The committee would be pleased if any owner can keep his ear in the grounds for the afternoon, in order that the children might enjoy the novelty of a motor-ear ride. For such a luxury, of course, a small charge would be made, resulting in the netting of funds for the carrying on of .our beautiful grounds.
We have often heard that whales sometimes spout for hours, and, although we have never yet been told, it is quite possible that much good comes from it. There were several very large specimens disporting themselves off the town a few days ago, and as each one was trying to outspout the other, it is said to have given much pleasure to all those who were fortunate enough to sec them. However, those who did not see them need not despair, as they can gel all the pleasure they want by attending the Theatre Royal" on Thursday. 12th instant, and hearing the debate on the No-License question.
