Iu tii« -Magistrate's Court lit Port Chalmers to-day, .Mr. Widdowson, S.M.. heard a case in which the chief steward of the .Yew Zealand Snipping Company s Opawa applied to lie registered as "an elector. The application affected 37 oilier seamen on th<" same vessel, as well as a large niinibri un other vessels of the same company. The Magistrate allowed the claim. Nap„r, Last Night. .Mr. A. 1a 1). Frnscr. member for Na|)ier, gave iiis opening address of lite campaign to-night. There was a large audience and the candidate was well received. He spoke in support of t> Coveninient policy, and received a vote of thanks and confidence. Westport, Last Night. Mr. F. F. Mmiro. candidate for the Duller seal, in the Liberal interests, addressed the. largest political meeting ever held iu Westport. At tile close he received a vote of thanks and conlidence. Uisbome, Last Night. This morning's issue of the Cis-bome Times contained an «pen letter to the Hon. It. McNab, signed by Mr. li. J. LMack, a local station owner, who makes a trenchant attack upon the Minister of Lands in connection with the Government's altitude towards the holders of grazing nin leases. Mr. Black declares his indention of having the facts fully circulated throughout the Dominion,'and will in all probability take the platform. Tcuiuka, Last Night, The Premier arrived at Temuka this 'evening and addressed one of the largest .political meetings ever held at Teijmik'a. He spoke for two and threequarter hours, devoting most of the liirte to replying to Opposition criticism and enunciating the Government policy. He received a very hearty reception, and was accordea a vote of thanks for his able address, supplemented by a vote of conlidence in himself and tile Government he represented. This was ■carried amid applause and cheers. Timaru, Last Night. Mr. Massey addressed a crowded meeting in the Theatre Royal to-night and found his audience attentive and sympathetic. No new ground was .broken. A large number of question, was answered. In regard to teaches' salaries, he said he was very much surprised to learn of the interpretation which the Department had put upon the Act. Dunedin, Last Night. Mr. J. F. Arnold addressed a large meeting of electors at Dunedin Central to-night. He ■ was accorded an unanimous vote of thanks and confidence. Wellington. Last Night. Mr. F. tl. Bolton, a candidate for Wellington North, made his first speech to-night. He was given a vote of tlianks and confidence.
