There ha« been considerable apprehension (in the part of residents ill the l<iwns from Wanganui to New I'ly'inoutli that the new overland railway -service will detrimentally alfcct iliein in regard to their train and mail arrange'mcnts. Enquiries made to-day show that the 'intention is that mails to and from Auckland will continue to be sent via New Plymouth. This arrangement will exist limitil an all-night train service is 'inaugurated. There is, moreover, no present intention to alter the Wellington-New I'lyniouth mail and train service. The oii'.v contemplated change just now is io send .mails for all places on the railway as far north as Oliatipo in the Wuikato 'by the overland service.
