FARM AND DAIRY.

A meeting of farmers of the Egiuont road district was field ill the hall on .Monday last to discuss the dairy regulations. There were about 'A"> present, and .Mr. Aaron .Marsh wa s vited to [he chair, Mr. L. liishop acting as.seeretavy to the meeting. The following resolution was moved liv .Mr. L. .Marsh and seconded by .Mr. X." Jlill and unanimous- 1 ly carried: —''That the daily rules and regulations be abolished." A copy of the resolution is to be forwarded to the .Minister for Agriculture. A Mawera Star reporter was assured on reliable authority that there is practically no second-grade produce being turned out in Taranaki this season, whereas last season there was very little else. One reason is said to be that] farmers are exercising more care oi' their milk (which now arrives at the factory' lor tfie most part in excellent condition), and another is because of the splendid condition of dairying stock, owing to the highly favorable winter experienced and the eouse(|uenl rich pastures that were available for the spring months. The milk -upply at many of the factories in the very heart of the industry in this provin.e. the Ilaweril district, has already passed all previous records, ami at some of the cheese factories the managers are in a i|uandary how to procure enough vats to eope with the supply. In harrowing, rolling, mowing, reaping, in fact, all farm work—a fast-walk-ing team is 'highly desirable.

The intense cultivation of the soil lias become a necessity, and to enable this >y»tem to be prolonged it li.i>

equally become a necessity to re-toie to the soil the plant food taken from it. ' *
