THE SCARLET TROUBADOURS. 1 . r ' Edward Bran«ombe, who is hitr.i- . ducjng to New Plymouth the ".Scarlet Troubadours ' at the Theatre Royal 3 n Tuesday and \\ ednesday, November 3rd and 4th, , s anxious to make it known that the style of performance they «ive must not be chssilied as "vaudeville" as recognised i u this country. It must be granted that too often when musical performance of a humorous character arc presented to the public the sin»in» is of a very indifferent nature, music being sacrificed for humor. Mr. Branscombes object has been to show how much move acceptable such music can bu made -when interpreted by reailv good singers, and t 0 carry this scheme !!I ija3 on, . v included with the -Scarlet Troubadours" vocalists ot refinement and repute. Whether the item'be serious or humorous, the same artistic finish will be found to stamp their ellorts to amuse, and to this, and the novelty they offer in both costuming acting, and singing their musical numbers, much of thoir success must be attnbuted. In alluding to these performanees one critic writes: "It is a new departure from all conventional .'forms, and first to last there is not a dull moment. They sing, dance, jest, and make merry in thoroughly whole-heart-ed fashion, and provide a feast of musiand merriment which goes with brilliant sparkle from start to finish "
