Kj r —I read with some astonisnment your article and thought the advanceincut of the age would bring ment in the general conditions of all classes of our public servants, tat ' find a schoolmaster and his family (possibly classed nigh) must bo reduced to the comforts of a prisoner ,n a viz., boarded and painted walls, the soldiers in their barracks nave now illuminated walls with ospensnc frescoes, paintings, or other attractions, whilst our schoolmasters wife a family are just considered worth tlie regulation pay and must be d"**}?** . all refinement and comfort ra the r "homes —sinvplv plodding away a iiio. consider the" thins? a schoolmaster should advance in luf- teachings aie the betterment of soeial t -oml l t. o n. an< .. «- nrovement of surroundings, and trust the members of our School Board will bury all antiquated notions and rise to the times, so that schoolteachers may feel that they are really a pait of tlu education system.-I am, ete.^
