MOKE CHARGES Of COKRUrTIOx! New York, October 20. Tiie leader of tiic Independence Party, Mr. W. It. Hearst, claims that a fresh batch of purchased letters in bis possession will set fire to inorjnomment ollicials' reputations. The letters sho-w that Mr, J. D. Archbold, of the Standard Oil Trust, recommended several judicial appoint* ments which have siucc been made, also that he sent £3OOO to llr. Elecin, Supreme Court Judge -i Pennsylvania, when he was Attorney-General of tire State, with a view to inducing him to kill a measure then before the State Legislature. ilr. Eleein denies that he received the money improperly or as a bribe to influence legislation.
