MOTOR TRAFFIC.

To. the Editor. - Sir,—l noticed a letter in your paper from Mr, Collis on the above matter, and also an explanation from Mr. Beeston in an interview he had with you. It, however, seemed to jne that he gave the go-bye to the complaint Mr. Collis made, and" devoted himself to sounding the praises of the car in so far that it could go much faster than the speed complained of, and also in yoking his ability to pull it up in so many yards, Ac., if the necessity arose. Just so. I gathered from Mr. Collis' letter that he wrote with the object of, if possible, preventing the necessity ever arising of showing the driver's sk!l in suddenly pulling up to prevent a collision. And as it seems to me that M.\ Beeston has missed the main point at issue, I would ask him to note what Mr. Bishop, S-.M., said in Christchurch on Friday, in giving judgment in a case where a motor-ear driver was concerned. After landing him to the tune of £>B and costs, he said: "Defendant in ties' case showed a lack of consideration and disregard for the rights of others.'' Here, in a nutshell, as it were, we have the cause of complaint against lots of motor-ear drivers. It would be as we'l for drivers of car* in other places besides Christchurch, for their own sak j «, to read, mark, learn and inwardly digest the remarks of the S.M. at Christchurch, as it seem* to me that the who.e trouble arises from a failure to realUe the rights of others. —I am, &c, TRAVELLER.
