AMUSEMENTS.

WEfST'S PICTURES.

NEW PKOUKAJLUIi TO-HIUHT. Highly interesting, iustruct«(t-o hind amusing—such terms could be applied to the cinematograph, entertainment given on Saturday evening by "West's Pictures and Do* Groen's Orchestra." The entertainment was one of tin; best o£ its kind ever given here and the large audience present appeared to appreciate it to the fullest extent. The overtures and accompaniments of Do Groen's Orchestra were splendid, ffhd provided a distinct and highly appreciated adjnuet to the pictures. The incidental music, which was most appropriate to the wide range of subjects depicted, helped the audience to a fuller appreciation of the pictures. The views, projected by a very powerful machine, were beautifully clear and flickerless! The effect produced was accordingly very life-like. Particularly was this | the case in the opening series, showing Royally on board ship. His Jlajesty the King was the predominant figure in the series, and the picture received a great ovation. The training and exercising of our Bluejackets provided •» very line series, giving an insight into Jack's life on land and sea. Other instructive pictures were those of a gip«f hasketmaker at work,, and tin; catching, cleaning, and preserving of fish. The humorous pictures were entirely new. and all of them were really diverting. 'This evening a cnmpleie change of programme will be presented, an announcement which, in the ease of West's, can be relied iipnn. The combination of n. full and talented orchestra with (lie latest subjects dealt with by cinematography provides a bill-of-fare. that should 'act as a magnet tonight.
