1 TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.") Double winners in liurdlc races are common. Will Liberator and Lyri-t show up to-day? Pellicle (Birkenhead—Film) is a ciu above tUe ordinary, as she proved when she won with her mouth agape on Wednesday. The Hon. I. 1). Ormond generally serve s up something pretty warm for liaek races. Expansion is the only one of the field in the Juvenile Handicap who has won a race. TUe half-brother to Pellicle scored in the Juvenile at Hawke's l!ay. leading home Merigai, Bliss, Ballvshanaon, and a numerous following. Although beaten out of a place in the Wellington Handicap, California ran a decent race, running up on the outsidi' from last to sixth. GlemiUin was ul-o well back in the first stages of the race, but finished fourth. If the latter wouid only gallop kindly his popular o\vll ' i' would soon be rewarded with a good win. The unlucky Truganini added to a long list of seconds by filling that position in the Shorts on Wednesday. She finished well, and would have won easi'y with another furlong to go. Sir Single won the Spring Hack Handicap in good style at the right cud, and should soon run out of hack company. . The attention of horse-owners and trainers is directed to the programme for the Christmas meeting of the laranaki Jockey Club, which appears in our advertising"columns. Liberal stakes arc offered, and all the events, nominations for which close on l'riday, 20th November, should fill well. A further budget of Turf Topics appears in to-day' s supplement.
