LONDON MARKETS. London, October 23. Wheat.—The markets are dull owing to the world's large weekly shipments nnd favorable crop reports from the Southern Hemisphere. There is better inquiry tor distant cargoes; 14,000 quarters oi Australian January and February shipments and 12,000 of December nnd January sold at 35s 7'/ s d. Steamer parcels, January and February shipments, sold at 35s Od and 35s Dd. Australian spot is quiet at 40s to 41s. Flour.—Flour is scarce; 25s fid to 20s Od is being obtained for spot in Loudon. Considerable sales have been 'effected in Glasgow, October and November shipments bringing 2Gs 6(1 to 20s »d. Butter,—The market is firm. Danish, 129s to 130s. A shipment of Australian by the Ormua of excellent quality sold at 118s to 120s, a few lots realising 1225. ° Copper,—Spot £Ol, three months £Ol 16s 3d. Tin. Spot £133 17s ttd, three months' £135 10s. Lead, £l3 6s 3d. Spelter, £l9 10s. Iron, 48s Bd. Sugar.—Firm. German 10s 4d, first murks 12s 2d. Wool.—The Bradford market Is uachanged.

With reference to the cable taessagc (received per United Press Association) published on Saturday last, stating that £1,000,000 worth of New Zealand bills of one year's currency had begun to be .placed on the London market 011 the basis of about V/u per cent., the Right Hon. the Premier was telegraphed to last evening, replying: "Ita further reference to your telegram regarding the reported issue of Treasury Bills for one million in London, 1 cabled the report as it appeared in the press in full to ■the High Commissioner and he replies that tile statement is absurd-and incorrect. and T may further add that no authority of any Treasury bills in London has been given."
