ARBITRATION COURT.
By Telegraph.--Press Association. Auckland, Thursday. The Aiibilralina Court wan occupied I to-duy with proceedings against the Tramway Company instituted .by the Labor Department. The Department alleged certain breaches of an award arising out of the recent strike, of tramway employees. The, first breach alleged was tile dismissal of Conductor Hcrtlsoii without notice and without giving him reason for dismissal. Christclmieii, Last Night. The Canterbury manure tallow, oleo, and freezing works employees have filed a claim in the Arbitration Court for an award. An wight-hour day, Is 3d per hour for manure and tallow workers, Is iy 3 d per hour for yard hands and general laborers, and Is an hour for oleo workers are among the principal claims. Overtime rates and the usual holidays are asked for. Tho case will come before the next sitting of the Arbitration Court at Christchurch.
