BAPTIST CONFERENCE.

At the Baptist Conference the following motion was carried:—"That a committee be set up to consider the reorganisation of the executive and its relation to the auxiliaries and committees of. the Union, ami also to the ollicers of both the. Union and .Missionary Society, the said committee to report at the conference of 1000." After four ballots Mr. l'\ Carey was elected president. He is a great-grand-son of Rev. Dr. Carey, India's pioneer Baptist missionary. The following were elected members of the executive:--President, Jlr. A. F. C'arev; vice-presi-dent, l!ev. T. A. Williams; secretary, Rev. The following resolutions were carried unanimously: 'The Baptist Union of Xew Zealand in annual meeting assembled expresses its intense satisfaction at the great unanimity with which Baptists throughout the Dominion support the no-liecnse cifuse, and further expresses the hope that during the weeks that remain lifore the coming licensing poll ministers and members alike will do the utmost that lies in tbflr power to secure the success of no-liceuse in their several districts."
"That a committee be set up (o consider the relations, financial and other, between the auxiliaries and the Union, and to pay -special attention to ilie power and the. methods whcrcliy new ground for home missions or churciies may be entered upon, the ■committee to report at the next annual meeting of the Union,"
"That a loving message of sympathy be sent to the Rev. Thos. Spurgeon expressing the hope of his speedy recovery to health and strength; and that a congratulatory message be sent lo the Rev. ,Tohn' Clifford, D.D., on the occasion of his ministerial jubilee."
