Welhigton, Last Night. The ■Wellington centre of tile New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, at a special nrcetin;, to-night, decided to enter an emphatic protest against the president's ruling that no Wellington candidates nominated to the council are eligible because they do not reside at headquarters. The returning officer is to be asked to explain his position as returning officer and candidate. The centre insists on the returning officer proceeding with tie election, according to the rules. The general opinion of the meeting was that this matter should be fought to the bitter end, and unless the president re-consid-ered his ruling the centre must consider the question of seceding from the Association.
