Counsel for defence said defendant had lost his job anil had received no profit from the liquor transact ! on« Briggs Bros., of Hie Standard JSrew- ' aversliam, were charged with sellj rag liquor to a resident of Balclutha, m a no-license district, and failing to aend a notice to the Clerk of the Court within a reasonable time. The evidence showed that 17 days elapsed before a notice was received by the Clerk of the Court. Defendants were fined 20s and costs.
