THE WHANGAPE.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Monday. The steamer Century, which arrived from Fiji this morning, brings further news of tlie drift of the Union Company's steamer Whauigape. When taken in tow lij'i th« Tofua, the Wlhangape was under sloiv steam. The first attempt, to couple the broken slhaft was unsuccessful, but a good result was obtained at the second attempt. The Wmngape was off an island north-west of Fiji when the Tofua sighted her. The Whangapc had encountered fair weather while adrift. Those on board had not been subjected to any great hardships. The drift was N.N.W., quito j the opposite direction to that in which the search vessels had expected her to go.
