Some astonishing results with the . wireless telephone were obtained reeeui- ; Jy at the Eiffel Tower wireless station 1 by naval Lieutenants Colin and Jcance and Chief-Eugiueer Mercier, who spoke ifroiii Paris to Dieppe. Having effected various modifications in the instruments they have been us- . ing in connection with these experiments, the above-named officers endeavoured to telephone by wireless from 'he Eiffel Tower to the wireless station ,ti Pointe de llaz on the coast of Einisteie, distant 310 miles from Paris. The experiments began ill tlie early hours of the morning, that being judged the most .favourable time. During the first hour or so the sound of a ltiotor-horn, the ringing of a bell, a ajiig on the graniaplione, etc., were transmitted ami heard distinctly. Then voice messages were sent through, and although they were very 1 faint and not. always clear, several e! tile phrases transmitted were understood. It is believed that this is the first time conversation has taken phiee ■ Dver such a great distance. . Jlr.
