A correspondent of Ute Opunake Times writes:—"Like the great Poobull in the comic opera, J would like to know what all the fuss is about—what is all the noise made over the dairy regulations? After reading them v.uofnily tlie only compulsion that 1 can see is that they emphatically require dairymen 'to ' wash and be clean.' Is this a hardship, or does it harass them to be clean? People living in ilile towns have been regulated out of tile squalor business years ago. When pigs, fowls, and pet animals were driven out of the towns tlie same hardship and 'harassing cry now was chorused out. but gradually this was overcome, aud the towns were put in a better hygienic state. Now the mop, scrubbing brush, and clean water are to be sent round the country. The clean dairyman has already got them. But tile other fellow—Oil, lie shall be washed and made clean,''

The Junction road was not forgotten, «,nd t'he Minister for Public Works agreed to take into favourable consideration tlie question of paying over to„the council the grant of £3OO promised on account of this road some years ago. In all of this, Mr. Brown said, they had been very greatly assisted by Mr. 11. Okey, M.P. No man could liave done more for them.
There was no trouble ivi finding Mr. Okey. If Parliament waj sitting, Parliament, House was the place to find him, and lie had been most active, courteous, and obliging in this matter, and also in connection Willi tile, dairy regulations. Mr. Brown said that Mr. Jennings, too, had been very valuable in securing Hie interview with tlie Public Works Department, and ill other ways. The council decided to convey to Messrs.
