Captain Norbury, of the Rarawa, is on sick leave. Captain Stephenson, of the Ngapuhi, has temporary command of the Rarawa. The Corinna for south last night took the following cargo from this port:— 6124 boxes butter, 311 packages chee3e, 109 cases canned meat, and 25 tons of j genera! cargo. _ j A case of more than ordinary interest to shipping companies and carriers ;n general was heard at the Timaru Magistratee Court on Wednesday, when W. M. Nisbet successfully sued the Union Steam Ship Company for damage to goods carried by the Corinna from Dunedia to Timaru. In the past the company has always refused to acknowledge such claims. The plaintiff, who succeeded in reversing thi 3 order oi things, brought the case in the ordinary way on his own account, but it had been arranged "that if he Tost the case the Timaru plumbers would join him in taking the case to the Appeal Court.
