The sum of one shilling f>er day ind found is the wage of the Japanese and Chinese erew of the strainer Mortlake, which has been discharging phosphates in the Dominion. This is stated to be double the pay they receive in their native land.
Tlie dismasted wow WhangafM, which was picked up by the Westpwrt Coal Company's collier Regulus on 23th June last and towed to Wellington, has provided a dividend for the master and crew of the Regulus.
