A. meeting of niedicu. who .lie not members of the British Medical Association, was held last night, primarily to consider the action ol the Association in fixing the minimum fees at which its members are allowed to undertake friendly societies' practice at 16s per member per annum for mvuieal attendance alone. .Mine medical men having taken friendly society work at a lower rate, the Association hail rctusod to allow its members to meet them in consultations or operations. Other me"thods also wer c taken by the Association to express disapproval ol the lowjerios of tie fees. ' The meeting was attended by nine tmedical men. It passed a resolution declaring* "That the action ot the Association is illogical and mi-British, pavorin'g of childishness, and reeking witn dnvr hatred, malice, and all uncharitableness: that it is the duty of every .■practitioner to succour and help to tne Ibest of his skill and ability all who urgently and of necessity require .ucli tekiU i'' It was further resolved to form a Wiion of medical men the fundamental principle of which should be liberty of thought with no bar to admission to any individual so long as lie or she had not become liable to th P law of tic IDomiinion"; also to convey thank, to the chemists and nurses who had preserved a neutral attitude though hre-.it-eneil and bullied hv th- Auckland of the Medical Association.
