MOTORISTS FALL OVER A CLIFF
AMAZJ.XIi ESCAPE OF A IiOXJSYiRIOX PAKTY. New York, August 8. Mr. J). \V. Baker, United States Assistant District Attorney at Washington, his bride and party of friends lull a remarkable escape from death in * motoring accident. The whole party fell over a precipice ol)0 feet high, and'the most, seriously injured was the chauffeur, who had his earn torn off. Mr. .Maker had been spending his honeymoon at Liberty, a famous health resort in New \ ork State, and be was on his way homo to-day in a .la *ge. covered motor cur. The party connived of Mr. and Mrs. linker, Dr. .IcUitfe (the famous alienist who gave evidence in the Thaw trial), Mr. M. "W. Sullivan, ami Mr. T. Morgan. Liberty lies high up in the Shawangunk range of mountains. The car was descending Wblnnt Mountain when it goi out of control, and, failing to take a \ cry sharp turn, it leaped over a precipice Mill feet high. Dr. .lelill'e jumped Vmt at the edge and was unhurt, but the other members ot the parly were unable to escape and went, over with it he car, which turned over three times in its descent. U lodged in a tree at the bo'llom of the elilV, and when Dr. -lellilVe clambered down expecting to find his friends all dead he was amazed to lind that 'lhey were practically unhurt. Their only injuries were a few bruises and the chaut-: fetir's loss of Jin ear. I
