A BANK SWINDLED.

CLEVER USE OF A CODE WORD. London, September 28. A daring bank swindle is reported. The perpetrator evidently lie,ml a secret code word u-eil at tliv Harlesden branch of the London and South-West-ern Bank, asking for the transfer of £750 belonging to a customer. This code word was used by the swindler to get amounts transferred to other branches. It was first transmitted to the Calford branch, where an acount was forthwith opened anil the account was forthwith opened and !::■ departed in an automobile, lie repeated the same operation at seven other branches, each of which received a similar notice. The total amount obtained by the swindle was £2320.
