Sir Christopher Funiess, addressing a meeting of colliery shareholders at Newcastle, expressed the hope that if the Eight Hours Bill passed, mine managers and miners would facilitate the great change in tile conditions of work necessitated by the Bill, which was unpopular throughout the country.
