During shunting a large cattle truck left the rails. While replacing tinis the engine-driver has !iis thumb severely rriixbrd through a jack slipping. The thumb bad to be amputated. The accident lo the I lerbertville coiuh to-day was caused liy the l 'D" of a swingle tree breaking. The coach completely capsized into a gully about 20ft deep. .Mrs. Wall was internally injured; driver Saunders was severely crushed by the front wheel: Mrs. Burling and child were slightly hurt, and several other passenger*' were bruised and shaken. A man named Blair was jiinn-d under the conch ibv the splashboard on his neck, and miraculously escaped with a few .scratches. A BOY KILLED. Westport, Friday. A liov named Kelly, seven years old. was riiiing on an empl.v coal waggon at Crnnity when he fell. lie was run over liv several cars and killed.
