The Minister for Agriculture told a deputation of Auckland memliers of Parliament this evening that Mr. Kirk,' the Department's biologist, had made certain recommendations concerning the fruit fly regulations. ]le. recommended that tlie importation of liananas be allowed, provided consignments arc aecom|«vnied by a declaration signed by the skipper that the fruit was_ shipped in a thoroughly green condition, ihe inspector to be empowered to have the fruit returned or destroyed if he were convinced it was not green when shipped. Mr. Kirk could not recommend any relaxation in respect of other fruits, especially oranges. This report, the Minister said, he intended to adopt.
