THE ROYAL PICTURES. Cinematograph eutertainmhents are in great vogue in Australia, and each important city lias several permanent houses in which moving pictures only are shown. New Zealand also ha s i.s permanent theatres for picture displays, and the most notable company is the Royal Pictures Syndicate, which has been giving nightly exhibitions in Wellington for the past nine mouths. The syndicate is now extoiuling its operations to this district, and New Plymouth will be regularly visied, the first performance being given, next Thursday, 17th September, at the Theatre Royal. The opening programme is claimed to lie an especially brilliant one, and contains a dramatic picture which has roused enthusiasm wherever shown. The films arc said to be somo of the finest acted ami staged incidents ever shown by biograph. Jn AYellington each representation earned applause. Tho pictures are specially taken for Mr. Spencer, of Sydney, from whom the management acquired them. There will be a liberal supply of comic pictures; some of them arc claimed to be a sure cure for the "blues." The Royal Pictures enterprise should meet with liberal patronage.
