The quantityafloat for the United Kingdom is 1,855,000 quarters; for the Continent, 1,725,000 quarters; Atlantic shipments, 2,510,000 quarters; Pacific shipments, 20,000 quarters. Tlie Department of Industries and Commerce lias received the following cablogram from the High Commissioner at London, dated 12tii September: — Frozen Meat.—The mutton market is somewhat steadier on account of tho smallness of supplies of beef, but there is still only a moderate demand. Canterbury brands 4y B d, North Island 3%d. The lamb market is quiet and the demand is falling off. Canterbury lamb is quoted at s'/id, other than Canterod. There is better demand for beef, which is in small supply. _ New Zealand beef is being held for a rise m prico. Hindquarters 4'/ 2 d, forequarters 3%d. Butter. The market is quiet but firm. There is good demand. Tlu' butter shipped by the Wakaiiui arrived in good condition. It is quoted at 11 (is per cwt; Danish ll!)s, (Siberian 108s, Canadian 115s.

Cheese—Tlio market is firm with improved demand. Canadian makes 01s per cwt. Hem,p—'The market is slightly weaker, with less demand. Following are current quotations: —On the spot: Good fair "rude '£27, fair grade £'-3, fancurrent Manila £23 10s. October to December shipments: Good fair grade • £2O, fair grade £'23, fair current Manila £23 10s. last weok's output from Manila amounted to 24,000 bales. Cocksfoot Seed.—Tho market is very uncertain. There is very little New Zealand on hand. Buyers are not keen to do business, as prices are too high. Bright clean 171b seed is quoted at 90s per°cwt (nominal), American 80s.
