DAFFODIL "AT HOME."
® Despite the showery weather the '• "Daffodil At Home'' in the Whiteley llall yesterday afteruoon and evening was very successful, both in point of a 1 tendance and display of spring blossoms. Lovers of tile daffodil or j:t rvissi tribe were well pleased wilh the .wealth, of blooms brought together; til,' exhibition including many choice varieties but recently imported from Old U mid growers. It is doubtful wiietiiiT any better blooms have been J shown in this Island from outdoor gardens than some of the liner varieties : exhibited by Messrs. Frethey and (Jibson. The excellence of the whole dis- • plav gave rise to wonderment that New . Plymouth should be without an organised spring Mower show. Mrs. Hrasch's exhibit was a collection of spring blooms, and Mrs. Victory's included some line hyacinths. Fine ancmonies and nearly thirty varieties of camellias graced the Morshcad Co.'s stand, and Mr. Duncan relied on some hundreds of kinds of daffodils, together with aneiuonies, freesias, and so on. Mrs. C'. Webster's Australian wnriuah and -Mrs. T. (j. Sole'.-: choice asparagus fern attracted considerable 'notice. Competitions filled well, 2.) entering for the button-hole competition.
