It was decided to make the following -e----cominciidations to the Now Zealand Football Association: —That the present system of competing .for the Brown •Shield be abolished, and that iu future the shield be a challenge shield to be played for on lines somewhat similar to the. Ranfurly and l'lnnket Shields, under rules to be passed by the New Zealand Football Association, the proceeds from shield contests to be apportioned as follow>:—Five 'per cent, of the gross takings to the New Zealand F'oot'ball Association, 70 per cent, of the net takings to the challenging association, and 25 per cent, to the challenged association; that winners of the present competition j lie the first holders of the shield; that iu case of any club or association importing a coach,'Lluit the coach be permitted to play for the club of association. no clul) to 'play more than one coach; that intcrproviiicial school matches be encouraged; that a referees' association be established iwith headquarters iu Wellington; and that all expenses be borne by the New Zealand Council; that payment be made to representative players' for loss of time if funds an available, no player iu receipt of wages while on tour to be included in this resolution.

It is stated that six playing members of the Ttiknpa Club will be found in the ranks of Xew Plymouth's professional I team. Alt impression seems to exist in some quarters that.in the course of a year or two the improvements in the. Rugby «amc will throttle the Northern I"nion game, and that the players who by joinill" the latter movement have brought: about the more brilliant Rugby will be pardoned and reinstated. If any intending participant in the new game ! n New I'lymotith has any such idea, then it would be well for .him to have a talk with .someone who possesses a little more commonsense than to fall iu with such a suggestion.
