PALMEItSTON SITTINGS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmei'stou N., Thursday. Arthur Henry Woods was sentenced to the maximum penalty of seven years' imprisonment at the Supreme Court this morning for assault' on a suven-year-old girl. Accused has just completed a five years' sentence for a similar oll'ence. Justice Chapman said it was necessary to imprison him for the longest term possible. Pnlmerston N., Last. Night. At the Supreme Court .to-dnv, before Justice Chapman, Tlios. Gleeson was charged with a breach of the Bankruptcy Act by incurring debts without any reasonable ground of expectation of paying the same. Tlie D.O.A. produced the bankrupt's books, which revealed a lmd state of affairs. The jury returned a verdict of guilty, with a recommendation to inevey on the grounds of accused's inexperience, and sentence was reserved.
