Mr. Kidston, in responding to the toast of his health, said that after this visit to England he was more than even opposed to -those in Queensland who decried the Old Country. lie deprecated the idea of quarrelling with tlie Federation. Australia required a strong central Government, but the States should have financial independence for their own development. He deprecated any attempt to destroy the State Governments.
