William Clark, of Scotland, has been appointed mine manager of Blackball mine in place of Mr. Walter Leiteh, who has been appointed general mining manager for the company.—Press wire. Mr. T. 11. Penn has been appointed secretary to the Stratford Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, vice Mr. 11. X. Liardcl, resigned. A well-known and popular South Taranaki settler, Mr. Denis O'Carroll, died at New Plymouth yesterday. Mr. O'Carroll look up land 011 the \Yaimate Plains shortly after they were opened, and left Otakcho, where his home was, only a few weeks ago to spend tlie 1 autumn of his life in retirement. The interment takes place at flawcra tomorrow (Friday).
