Mr. 1). Cuddic, Dairy Commissioner, arrived by the liarawa from OiiehuugJ yesterday morning, and spent the day at New Plymouth. Mr. S. Collis, who has accepted a | position in tile Auckland gasworks, left to take up his new duties on Saturday night. Mr. J. McGrane, a popular member of the local Post Office (public counter) has been transferred to Auckland and left for t'lie North by the ltarawa last night. Mr. J. f~. S. Medley, Devon street, has been appointed Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages for the New Plymouth district, vicv Mr. J. 0. Smith, who recently resigned. The Wanganui Chronicle announces the death of Mr. Duncan Corbv, who passed away suddenly at the ripe old age of 77 years. A grown-up family arc left to mourn their loss.
i Many old friends will hear with reIgret of the death of Mr. .John Dunn, of Hawera, who was quite one of the old identities of the district (says the Star). He came to Xew Zealand with, the <l.>th Regiment. Men of the (15th tare hard to find nowadays, and therefore it is difficult to get reliable informa.' Won, but so far as we can learn Dunn arrived in New Zealand just after the Imperial troops had finished their lighting, and we are not aware whether -■he took service in the local forces. He was in WangStnui for some time, but the bulk of his life he lived in Hawera' district.
