New York, August 27. A canal at Augusta, in Georgia, burst its banks and flooded the city to a depth of from six to twelve feet. The flood carried away bridges and inundated several farms. The damage is valued at half a million dollars. ARGENTINES ARMAMENTS. Buenos Aires, August 27. The Argentine Chamber authorised the Government to spend £11,000,000 on increasing the fleet and renewing the field artillery. THE PUSHFUL GERMANS. London, August 27. According to the Berlin correspondent of the Standard advices have been received from Madrid stating that Bpaia intends granting a German firm permission to establish a coal depot at the Canary Islands subject to certain Conditions. Two English girls who had been; brought to America as converts to Mormonism, after landing at Boston, were ordered to be deported because they had run away from their homes. Eleven Scandinavian women wh6 were also being brought in as converts to Mormonism were excluded becanse ttiey bad been financially assisted to make the passage.
