Ihe pumps.kept the heavy inrush of water down till the steamer reached the wharf. The Hero was crippled and towed into harbor this afternoon. Received 29, 0.40 a.m. Sydney, Last Night. The Hero's condition shows the for,* of the impact. Her stern was broken and the boiler shifted from its position. The steampipe connections were carried away, and the forepart was flooded. The vessel was completely disabled. ~ Luckily none were injured, all escaping from the steamer. Both of the »essc!s require docking. Four of the Suva's plates need renewing. I
