KENT ROAD. ' (From Our Own Correspondent). The lirst marriage ceremony in the ue.w Methodist Church took place oil Wednesday, when Mis* Essie Herbert, fourth daughter of the late Mr. tieorge Henry Herbert, of the Korito road, was married to Mr. William Johnson, eldest *Oll of Mr, William Johnson, of Cheni load, Ngaire. The church was prettily decorated with ferns and llowers for the occasion. The bride, who was givfiii away by tier brother, Mr. George Herbert, was very prettily attired in a pale blue voile trimmed with Valenciennes lace and insertion, and carried a beautiful bouquet, telle was attended by her iwo sisters, Misses Orace and Huby Herbert, as bridesmaids, who wore very daintily dressed in eream silk musliu, with pale blue saslies and silk hats to match. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. K Johnson, as best man. At the close of the ceremony, Mr \V. Cliattcrton, on behalf of (he trustees of thi! Methodist Church, presented the bride and oridegroom with a handsome Bible, to mark the occasion of the lirst marriage solemnised in the chureh. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of the bride's mother, where about sixty guests assembled. The bride and bridegroom were the recipients of numerous wedding presents. The bride's travelling dress was of brown cloth, with white velvet facings, and white hat with ostrich plumes to mate!). The ! appy pair left by the afternoon train en route for their new home anitd the warm wishes of their many friends.
