DOUBLE MURDER BY MISTAKE.

New York, June 30. A pitiful tragedy due to mistaken jealousy took place in Southern Illinois last night, when Julius Turner, one of the wealthiest business men in the district, shot and killed his wife and his sixteen-year-old son, mistaking the latter for his wife's lover. Mrs. Turner was twenty-five yearsyounger than her husband, and a woman of striking beauty. Her husband's groundless jealous}; had eausud several separations, but the couple were always reconciled after Turner had promised not to suspect her again. He had often threatened his wife, whe was not afraid, however, and she ignored his warnings that he would kill her if he ever caught her in the company of another man. La-st night Mrs. Turner attended a church bazaar at Clay City, a village near her home, and her son, who was six feet tall, went thure in order to escort j her home.

Turner, who did not know of this arrangement, awaited his wife in a thick grove near the church. When .Mrs. Turner passed, accompanied by a tall man, Turner sliot her three limes
