file >Star I'ootball Club's annual social, which evejituated at the Theatre lioyal last night, was a very successful function. There was a very large a.t- ---] tendance, including members of -the [ 'laianaki liugby Union management ( coiiiiuiltce and the Wellington and TaraI " akl representative teams. The arrangements were on a most'complete seale, and a credit to the ladies' committee and the secretary, Mr. J. i,. ■U.irke. The music was supplied by Jfrs. • (.eorge's orchestra, and was practically taintless. Messrs. li. Humphries, J. A. arke. and ,1. Wa,v acted as M.C.'s. 'ihe suppor as usual, '\v«re on & sumptuous'scale, the tabbs being decorated in flowers of the club's colors by Mrs. F. U. Clarke. The ladies' coinniittee was as follows:—Mesdames lv JJockrill (president), (i. Tiscli, Bimnicins, !•. liichards, li. Jury, Back E. if. Smith, Clarke, A. Coleman, and Ryan, 'Misses Humphries (2), Ca.pel, Hanna, and Nichols. During the evening Mr. A Jluinphries. (in the absence of the club | '
president, Mr. E. Dockrill, through slight indisposition) -presented the Dan | Juion •Shield which had been won during the season by the Star juniors, Mr. ■Harding accepting it on behalf of the •team, the captain and vice-captain hav■nig left on tour with the junior representatives that night. Mr. G. Bishops gold medal for the best forward in tin first fifteen was presented to Mr r Brown.
