HIGH SCHOOL BOARD.
Tile High School Board of Uovernors met yesterday alterjioo;i at tile ollice ot the secretary (mr. W. jiowley). lucre were present: Messrs Al. F'raser (chairman), S. Pcrcy-Siuitn, A. 11. Ulasgow, N. K. ilacDiarinid, J. ti. Wilson, and Dr. Fookes.
A letter was received from Mrs. Syrnes, one of the Board's lessees, stating tliat the Clifton County Council was opening a gravel reserve oil lier leasehold.—it was decided to inform per yard. Xlie County Council will be make the best terms she could wiui the local body, and that tile Board would allow her one-fourth of the royalty, the niiuimuni royalty to 'be -id per yard. 'i'.lio County Council will be notified to pay all royalties direct to the Board.
The Board conditionally approved the transfer of u, lease troui .Laurent to l'aynter. Board adopted U>u recounnendatioii of the sub-committee to make a grant of .£3O to the New Plymouth Technical School.
Mr. Smith reported (having authorised the purchase of a new honors shield for the school.
The chairman reported that the play-ground, which had been ploughed and sown in grass, was not as it should be. It would have to be treated with the-disc and re-sown.—Dr. Fookes said a good deal of levelling wouln lie required .before a good cricket pitch could be obtained.—lt was decided to ask Mr. W. l'crliam to confer with the Board as to the requirements. The acting-principal was empowered to purchase new clubs, and to have the tenuis courts top-dressed and rolled. Accounts amounting to £lO3 17s 4d were passed for payment.
