Eight rain fell throughout the afternoon, and the ground was sloppy. Goals were scored by Clyde, Aspinall and Grant for Otago, and for the losers by Walton. The winners showed the better combination, and disconcerted Southland's attacks. The goal-keeping on both sides was excellent.

Arrangements were completed on Tuesday for the visit of a team of .Wellington professional footballers to Auckland where a game will lij played under Northern Union rules against an Auckland thirteen.
