Evidence was given by Dr. -Burnett (tfalclutha), Lily Knox (housemaid), Taylor (barman), Smith U* temporary boarder), and the police at Kinson. The evidence was even more contradictory and tangled than in the lower Court. The case for the . Crown was concluded. Mo witnesses are to bef called for tho defence. Dr. Burnett stated tliat he believed tJlie cut on deceased's temple might have been caused by a fall and violent contact with some sharp, hard substance, such as the architrave of a door. Death, he believed, had 'been due to a bruise a little larger than half a crown piece <M the . brain, probably caused bv a violent blow on the face, but that tliero was nothing to show how this had been dealt. Alcoholism had been a contributing cause.
