TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.") The hurdler Tui passed through New Plymouth yesterday en route for Wanganui. Tui is engaged in the hurdle events at the Marton meeting. C. Jenkins scored Ms first winning ■ride of this season when he piloted Vasa home in front in the Redclifls Handicap on Saturday. . Jockeys A. Julian, T. Cahill, A. Olliyer, W. O'Connell, and W. Jarvis were up on two winners apiece at the Canterbury meeting. ' J. Delaney, J. Pine, H.* Donovan, C- Jenkins, R. Hatch, 1). Price, D. - Watt, R. King, T. Pine, E. 1 Cotton, and R. Tonioaua rode one winner each. Mr. J. George won £230 at the National gathering as the result or Paritutu's two seconds. In the Sprefdon Hack Hurdles on Thursday the five runners finished in •the order of the book, the winner being ait Oasis in a desert of absolute "wasters."

The New Zealander Waipu, accoin nanied by his trainer (Cameron) and • jockey (John O'Connell), is returning to the Dominion shortly. Their Australian trip was a disastrous one.
