Received 10, 4.20 p.m. New York, August 15. Obituary: lrn David Sankey, the American evangelist.
•The world-famed evangelist was horn in America (18 years ago, and was for 29 years associated with the late Divight L. Moody. He wis the comf piler of sacred songs and solos, tlie Christian Choir, and others in Great Britain, and he has composed many of the times in the Moody and Bank«v Gospel Hymns in America, such as the Ninety and Nino; When the Mists have Rolled Away; Faith is the Victory; A Shelter in the Time of Storm, etc., together with a number of hymns. Since the death of Mr. Moody, he has been, engaged in lecturing on his favorite theme of Sacred Song ami Story, Singing through Egypt and Palestine; Memories of Moody, etc., in America and Great Britain. His compilalions of hymns and tunes have had a larger circulation than any books of the kindever published.
