Funiko fioad-.-The Roads Department uolihed the Hoard thai Air W a Shortt, of Wellington, hud been 'a.,' pointeil a.commissioner to hold euqniiV and take evidence re the boundary road between the districts under the" jurisdiction of the Werekino and Pari'haka Road Doards—Resolved that the Chairman, Mr. Jones, Mr. Tylee, and the Clerk attend the enquiry and give evidence.
Rates.—H. T. Lysaght wrote objecting to paying his special rate on' the Ngariki Road, as it was excessive in proportion to what his rate on the other section was.—The Clerk said the amount had since been paid.—Members said it was for the Valuation Department to make the adjustment in valuation.
Crusher.—The County Council wrote stating that it cannot reduce the cost of hire of the crusher plant. - Newall Road.—Messrs. Ducker and Cassie waited on the Hoard, and said they wanted to borrow £OOO to metal the road as far as the formation— So chains—Resolved that the Hoard take steps to raise the loan as soon as the settlers signed the petition. Ngariki Road— Messrs. T. AYillcox, Lawn, and Hilling waited on the Hoard, objecting to the amount of rates which the' Board was trying to collect in order to pay the interest on the Ngariki Road loan, pointing out that more than the margin of 10 per cent, was being collected.—The Clerk explained that there were Maori rates amounting to £23, which had not been collected. Consequently there was a loss which bad to be made up by someone.—The members of the deputation said they were anxious that the matter should be settled, so that everyone should pay their equal share.—The Hoard agreed to do what it could to give satisfaction to tilie ratepayers. Rahotu Road—Air. T. Fleming, waited on the Board, asking for some' culverts- to be placed on the road, so that he could get along with a dray.—Foreman to report at next meeting. Insurance.—Air. A. E. Mayon waited on the Board, complaining about the rate on iusurancc.—The Clerk explained that the tariff charged was the ordinary scale, £4 5s on £IOO for bush work.
Burgess Road.—Mr. Pearson waited .on the ]ioard and asked for some money to lie spent on Burgess Road.-The road is £l3 in debt and nothing could b« done.

Ihaia Road.—Resolved: That a further sum of UO he granted for the road, provided settlers contribute an equivalent. (Warner—Deegau). Poundage.—The attention of the Hoard was drawn by Mrs. Barrett 10 the fact that the range,- was impounding slock off Crown land between Pungaicliu and Tipoka Roads.—Resolved: That the ranger lie instructed not (o impound oil' the land until the Board finds its power with regard to it. (Harvey—Jones).
Lower Kina Road.—Resolved that two chains of metalling be done. Heavy Traffic.—Resolved: That the matter of heavy traflie be referred to Mr. Tylee, the solicitor, and the clerk to draw up a scheme to regulate the timber trafflc on the roads in winter. Rate.—Xotice of motion was given to strike a rate qf one-halfpenny for the ensuing year. A motion for a rate or %d was proposed, but was lost on the casting vote of the chairman. Accounts were passed for payment.
