THE ANNUAL MEETING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. . 'the annual meeting of the Wellington .Meat Export Co. was held to-day. The chairman (Mr. W. G. Foster) stated that during the year the equivalent of 54.3,8111) s'lieop was handled, an increase of 15;203 on the previous year. Of the 545,81)0 sheep put through, 127,09!) had been frozen by the owners, who. had in so doing in most cases hail the specilie desire of supporting the company, which originally was purely'a farmers' company, Which still had a wide and in- [ lliientiai connection in the eouatry. The increase in wages during the past 18 months could scarcely be placed at less than 7% per emit., and on tin's basis the extra amount paid by the company Ito the workers during the twelve I months ended June 30th would exceed i:io00. Notwithstanding this, owing to improved appliances and extensions, no increase 'had been made in the freezing and other charges which would have i been severely felt. The capital oxpenI diture for the year was £IO,BOO, of which £S4OO was for plant and its erection, and £5735 for new premises. The company was now to be congratulated upon having the best fellmongery in tho Australasian oolonies.
The retiring directors (Messrs. J. W. Marsihall and W. H. Beetham) were reelected without opposition. The remuneration was fixed at £BOO, the same as in previous years.
