The Eofaenlohe and Wittgenstein esjtates at Vilna tyive been sold owing to 4 Russiftt decree being issued that owners must become Russian subjects or sell their states. The owners offered the estates to the Government for .'£700,0000. The Government Valuer estimated the value at £150,000. Eventually the estates were, sold privately for £430,000. The estates came into the possession of the Hohenlohe lamily shoot 1848, through the carriage of Prince Hohenlohe with the Princess of fiayn Wittgenstein.
