INGLEWOOD S.M. COURT

MONDAY, 10th AUGUST, 1908. The usual monthly sitting of the Magistrate's 'Court was held at lnglewood yesterday, before Mr. A. Turnbull. Judgment went by default in the following eases:—A. 0. Nicliolls v. Mrs. E. Bennett, claim £3 (is 2d, court costs 7s, solicitor's fee as (Mr. Spence for plaintiff) ; T. H. Sims v. F. Buckingham, claim £1 Is Cd, costs ss. hi the defended case of R. N. White v. 0. J. Northcote, claim £lo' 17s 7d for wages, plaintiff was nonsuited with solicitor's fee 21s. Mr. Thomson appeared for plaintiff and Mr. Crombie for defendant. N. Amreim, for whom Mr. Crombie appeared, proceeded against- >l. Boucher and Co. (Mr. Spence for defendants) for possession of one motor bicvclc valued at £35 and damages £l4 17s lOd. D«- | feudants eoiuiterclaimed for £3. After hearing evidence on both sides at some length, the Magistrate made an order for the return of the bicycle without costs, and struck out the counterclaim. The Moa Farmers' Union was charged, on the informatiai of 11. Willis, Inspeti tor of Factories, with exposing tliirty--1 six shirts without attaching a label to each shirt in the prescribed form, such shirts having been manufactured in an unregistered factory. Fined l«s and costs 7s. .

I', Lawson. charged with allowing a chimney to be, on lire within the borough, \vii- convicted and discharged. Vn judgment summons cases the following orders were made:—ll. Sliotlander v. L. Redmond, claim £3 las. No appearance of defendant, who was ordered to pay the amount forthwith, in default a. week's imprisonment in Wellington gaol; warrant to be suspended if £i 8s is paid on 1-ltli September next, and balance by monthly instalments of £2 each. Thirteen other cases on the cause-'nt were either confessed, struck out, or not I served.
