DISTRICT NEWS.

UILLSBOKOUOII. We have been very unfortunate in our choice of nights for functions in Urn hall. Invaria'bly it happens lo be a -beautiful night oil the following day (excuse the bull). On l(>t,li .Inly a party came down from' Kgmont Village, and gave us a lirsl-class entertainment', but unfortunately for lis and them, it wits a wild night, and some of-tlie settlers did not care to leave lhc li resides. On Thursday, Olh August, a party of young ladies and gentlemen came out from New Plymouth and gave us a eoncert in aid of the hall fund. They represented a gipsy camp, the stage being decorated to represent a sylvan glade, and the dresses seemed very appropriate to the scene. The songs were all exceedingly well rendered. I hope, if these ladies and gentlemen again favor us with a visit,.that it will be a liner night, and we have a bigger audience. There is no doubt that the-windy night kept a great many people away, but I think that more publicity should be given. If, for instance, they advertise, and the advertisement costs, say, ss, and it brings twenty extra people at Is, there is 15s gained. AVliat 1 have been writing about refers mostly to raising the wind for the hail. Hut unfortunately for Mr. If. O. Skellon, (he wind razed (he roof of his shed, and it came, through into his children's bedroom, and it will cost him a considerable sum to repair the damage done.
