Many inhabitants at Fernie .ire seeking refuge on the Canadian Pacific Railway. : The coke ovens at Michel are ablaze. ■ The town of Coal Creek, where fifteen hundred people are, is also threatened with fire, which is within three mibjs and cuts off escape by the west, except for two Indian trails over mountains which are impossible for women and children to traverse.
